Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson (Saoirse Ronan) fights against but is exactly like her wildly loving, profoundly opinionated and strong-willed mom (Laurie Metcalf), a nurse working tirelessly to keep her family afloat after Lady Bird's father (Tracy Letts) loses his job. Set in Sacramento, California in 2002, amidst a rapidly shifting American economic landscape, Lady Bird is an affecting look at the relationships that shape us, the beliefs that define us, and the unmatched beauty of a place called home.

The film has been nominated for four golden globes and has a 99% “Fresh Rating” on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Crown tells the inside story of Queen Elizabeth II, her husband, Prince Philip, and the revolving door of prime ministers at 10 Downing Street. In addition to its fascinating historical stories, the show examines the extreme pressures placed on the couple’s marriage as the royal family works to stay relevant in a rapidly changing world. Season one was a popular and critical success with multiple Emmy nominations. Season two was just released and has received similar praise.

“Coco” was released in November but is still going strong at the time of publication. Disney/Pixar film about an aspiring musician, Miguel, who is confronted with his family's generation-long ban on music is quickly heading to over $200 million in gross. Vanity Fair called the film a “Love Letter to Mexico,” but its heartfelt story is connecting with people around the world. The early word is that Coco maybe headed for its share of Oscars in 2018.
